Nine Days Off

Hello Group Exercise Enthusiasts!

I didn't make it a big to do before I left, but I'm on day nine of an end of the summer vacation. I didn't look at an e-mail until two days ago, and I won't respond to any until tomorrow, when I'm officially back! I really appreciate the peace of mind and clarity of focus one can attain when one removes oneself from the daily grind. I truly love what I do; nevertheless, prior to my little getaway, I'd worked 27 straight days where I was in the building every day for at least two hours on any given day (most days were over nine hours). Wisdom has it that familiarity breeds contempt. I'd not gotten to that point, but burn out was just around the bend. These past nine days have breathed new life into this fatigued Director. I'll need it for the piled up workload tomorrow!

I've only taken one class in my absence, but I ran several miles at the resort and grounds where we vacationed. I haven't kept up any strength work in my absence, contrary to the advice I usually give our members who travel much. There are many exercises that can be done while traveling that require no special equipment. I opted for non-alcoholic frozen drinks by the pool. I'm a wee bit fearful of my own personal atrophy when I teach BODYPUMP tomorrow at 3:30PM. Those of you looking for a laugh, come on by and see if I can make it through all the reps.

Anyway, the point of this post is to let y'all know that I've not dropped off the face of the planet. Rather, I've been marshalling my own inner-strength and catching my breath for the fun to come.

I can honestly say that after nine days, it'll be good to be back working with enthusiastic crowds of folks seeking better health. A special thanks to Kim Z for babysitting the program in my absence and to Nancy K for stepping up as the goto for staff who needed help.
