Stepping Down, Not Out

Hey folks! I'm stepping down from my responsibilities as the Group Exercise Director for the Downtown Orlando Family Center. See my brief summary here: http://www.timpowell.info/.(Link removed at request of CFYMCA)

Even though I've done all I can do after three years and the program needs an infusion of new ideas, I'll miss you all!

Thanks for being such a great community.

The Y won't be the same without you as Group Exercise director. I don't know if I really believe that you will still be there to teach classes. I hope that you don't just disappear from the DT Y. Thanks for always being there.

Why is Tim leaving??? Who is taking his place?? He is the only instructor that took time to get to know me, talk with me, actually learn my name! He will be missed!

Tim truly went out of his way to say hello and get to know the members of the Downtown Orlando YMCA. I remember when he approached me and encouraged me to take a group exercise class for the first time. His passion for group exercise is truly contagious and he's helped me fall in love with quite a few classes offered at the Y. Tim will be missed!

Tim was the greatest asset to the downtown Y and his many students appreciate all he has done for us. His workouts were top notch and his enthusiasm for the job was unrivaled. It just won't be the same without him. I just hope that he can continue to give his long-time step students a workout on Sunday. It really sets a positive tone for the whole week.

Thanks Mom!!! Of course, kidding...all your support is greatly appreciated, but seriously folks, I'm hanging on to Sundays and Tuesday nights, so please, no worries! I had a farewell posted but pulled it down because all info regarding my replacement wasn't known, and rather than me give incomplete info, management preferred I not say anything yet. There was no drama around my leaving. I'm working with a great company in the area of my academic degree. I love the Y and everyone involved, member and staff alike. I still believe in the mission and contribute to the scholarship campaigns. It was incredibly difficult to make the choice to leave, but I had an opportunity to do more great things, and I had to make a choice. I will still be around for years to come, so please keep coming to my and all the instructors' classes.

You folks are the best! Keep sharing the Group Exercise love and I'll look for you at the Y!
